NOTE: The three front rooms (entryway, living room and dining room) are very open and flow into each other so I would like the design of each of these rooms to tie them together in some fashion.

Original Design Direction
We didn't (and still don't) have a cohesive design direction for this room. We just began to fill the room with pieces that caught our collective eye (table, buffet, mirror) and knew that it was going to be a very eclectic room. We went with the blue in the fabric and on the ceiling because of one of the pieces we wanted to use in the Living Room (which has not been purchased). The Living Room piece that we liked was the Eddy West Small English Cupboard (36-1312) in Deep Teal.

We attended a wedding in Chicago a couple years back (the reception was at Fulton's on the River) and loved how the bar area was decorated with large black and white photos of the city. We envisioned using the long wall in the Dining Room as a similar type gallery.

We also tried to move forward with a rug selection, but started to get a little tripped up due to the location of the chandelier which obviously needs the round table centered underneath it. We started to look at square rugs, but couldn't find any that would tie the room together to our liking. We did find rugs that we liked, but they weren't square and we weren't sure how a rectangular rug would look or fit in the space and we were trying our best to stay away from the custom rug arena.
